Baptism is the complete immersion of one's body in water to symbolically represent the 'washing away of sin' and the beginning of a new life working to be more like Jesus.
Jesus chose to be baptized as a symbol of his submission to God and provided an example for each of us to follow.
Baptism is a one-time event of submission to Jesus supported by every circumstance of repentance in the New Testament.
Baptism is a choice. The choice to 'be' baptized is made by each person based on their understanding of God, their desire to change or improve, and is conducted at a time of their choosing.
A person who chooses to place membership with the church at Gateway and has already been baptized is not required to be baptized again; the repentance and turning to God already occurred when they were baptized.
